KELLY'S SPIRIT LIVES ON IN DONATIONS

<<>>Even in death, City Councilor Jimmy Kelly a former Sheet Metal Worker is stepping up with his contributions.  Mr. Kelly’s children have issued the Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 with a generous donation of $10,000.00 to the James Kelly Scholarship Fund.  With this helpful donation many students of Local 17 will be able to use this as an opportunity to begin their journey into the future at various institutions for higher education around the country. >

LOCAL APPRENTICE CONTEST WINNERS

Listed below are the names of the winners in the Local Contest that was held on Saturday October 13, 2007. The Contest included shop layout, drafting and a written exam based on the apprentice’s knowledge of math, blueprint reading, welding, as well as job and shop safety. Local 17 wants to congratulate all the apprentices that took part in the contest.

Massachusetts AFL-CIO Scholarship Awards: Local 17 Recipients 2007

In 2007 approximately 19 children and grand-children of Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 members received a scholarship awards ranging from a four year scholarship of $3500 per year to a one-time gift ranging from $500 to $2000.

The awards will be helpful to these young students as they begin their futures at various institurions for higher learning around the country.
