LOCAL APPRENTICE CONTEST WINNERSListed below are the names of the winners in the Local Contest that was held on Saturday October 13, 2007. The Contest included shop layout, drafting and a written exam based on the apprentice’s knowledge of math, blueprint reading, welding, as well as job and shop safety. Local 17 wants to congratulate all the apprentices that took part in the contest. Massachusetts AFL-CIO Scholarship Awards: Local 17 Recipients 2007In 2007 approximately 19 children and grand-children of Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 members received a scholarship awards ranging from a four year scholarship of $3500 per year to a one-time gift ranging from $500 to $2000.
