Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our ability to conduct business as usual has been greatly affected. Our negotiations with SMACNA Contractors have been hampered in a way like we have never witnessed before. With the circumstances laid out above, we will be extending our Rhode Island Contract through Friday, June 5, 2020.
Rhode Island Members will vote on the contract on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 3 PM.
Voting will take place at the Rhode Island Union Hall, 22 Amflex Drive, Cranston, RI. Voting will be conducted as a Drive-Up Vote.
Here is the drive-up voting process:
- All members must stay in their vehicles.
- One person should be in each vehicle.
- You must wear a mask.
- Drive up to receive your ballot.
- Drive to the end of the Hall, where someone will be there to take your ballot and drop it in the ballot box for you.
At this time, we do not have the details of the new contract as we are still negotiating.
IMPORTANT: Please call the Union Hall at (617) 296-1680 to update your personal information. Due to the short timeframe, we will be sending out the contract details prior to voting and the voting results to you via text and email.
Please note that your Union Dues must be paid through June 30, 2020, to be eligible for strike benefits.
We will also put updates on our website at www.smwl7boston.org.
In Solidarity,
Robert Butler
